Olaf Kühnemann
Olaf Kühnemann is a painter based in Berlin since 2009 and is working as an artist between Berlin and Tel Aviv.
Studied with Artist Zvi Lachman in Israel and is a graduate of the New York Studio School and of Parsons School of design (1991-1994, MFA) NY USA.
Kühnemann works in a wide range of medium sizes and techniques, including drawing, painting and installation.
He has been using themes such as autobiography, free association and imagination to explore the language of painting and its open and endless possibilities.
Since 2014 Kühnemann has been using paper as a central medium, working with oil, graphite and color pencils combining abstraction and figuration drawing and painting from observation and free association, addressing questions of identity, language and imagination.
Kühnemann has exhibited in galleries and museums in Tel-Aviv, Jerusalem, Haifa, Berlin, Oldenburg, Bielefeld, London, Bregenz, Budapest and NY.
He is the recipient of the Tel-Aviv Museum Isracard prize 2008 and was included in the Jurors pick for the Book “100 Painters of Tomorrow” 2014.
