DisCordance

DisCordance

The title stems from the relationship between creation and  context. The title DisCordance relates in this case to styles,  textures, colors, form, and how they manage to stay in harmony  with one another.

There often seems to be disCordance with new artistic tools, like  video or AI being used to show art pieces in a traditional setting  like a traditional gallery or museums with a traditional content.

Nowadays there might be DisCordance in the interaction of the  professed intention of the artist and how the public might relate to  it. Some of the reasons will be grounded in the way the internet  will bring those works in contact with people from diBerent  cultural and religious backgrounds where they are viewed in a  diBerent context then the one in which the work was created.  Sometimes the artist will purposefully create disCordance by  using religious or political symbols. That way cultural and moral  content might clash with the public that comes to see the works.

In the exhibition in „ the 4th Wall“ in the structure of the gallery  space, works from artists from very diBerent backgrounds and  intentions are put together . DisCordance is thus made visible in  comparison of diBerent works with diBerent intentions in the  context of this subject, made by local and foreign artists, people  dealing with gender questions and immigration.

Thus the process of keeping a balance and harmony between  intentions , the interaction with the 0viewer and practical  considerations of size and form within the gallery space, are  glimpsed by the viewer.
