Women in love
It is an exhibition about the versatile meanings of love, inspired by the well-known classic film “women in love” by Ken Russell. This late sixty movie dealt with extreme relationships between all kind of couples, men or women alike.
This exhibition explores the breaking of barriers, of what it might mean when we say LOVE, including the old-fashioned meaning of romantic love. It is a question of a new language of how to describe relationships with their very vast varieties of meaning. In his book “the art of loving” social psychologist and psychoanalyst Erich Fromm describes a lot of forms of love with its many aspects, not only the afore mentioned but the love for children, brotherly love, erotic love, self-love and the love of God. The artists participating in our project have included splinters of all these aspects in their respective works.
That is why the installation is hung in a way that the works are keeping the intentions of the individual artists but take on different meanings as well by the way they collaborate with other works hung next to them.
As always, the 4th wall art space continues to bring together many artists from different countries and different views.
The works can be seen through the big window that functions as the 4th wall.
